Hello All,
Are you coming up short each month, have a cable subscription and are looking for ways to make ends meet? I can’t count the number of times, I meet with my Crown Money Map (www.crown.org) clients in this similar situation, and through this I have come up with the same answer.
Cable and satellite services are going up and up each year, and most people just “put up” with these increases, since they have grown to “need” these services.
My suggestion to everyone of my clients is the same. “Drop cable.” These days the local channels offer good forms of entertainment, and with the evolution of the “DTV” switch next February, the picture and sound allegedly will be “cable quality;” so I sugguest that the clients that don’t have a DTV-ready television set to drop their cable service, go to www.dtv2009.org, order a $40 voucher and then purchase a “DTV” receiver. Of those who have a DTV-ready set… Just drop cable.
I have never had cable, and look at me, 41+ years survivor. Honestly, having tens to hundreds of channels to choose from is mind-boggling, and no one really watches something from 90% of the channels through their lifetime anyway, so why pay for them. If you can’t find something to watch, read a book, play a game with your family or friends; there is more to life than TV.
Well, that is my free financial fact for today. It could save you hundreds per month and thousands per year. And when money is tight, this is one area that could be skimped.
Finance.
